The fabric of living dreams

God knows it’s not easy to decorate your home beautifully. It often takes quite some time until one’s home is furnished with the comfortable furniture and the right wallpaper has been found for the walls.

I have often been annoyed when curtains and cushions don’t completely match the rest of the room. Of course, slight discrepancies in the colour or pattern are not dramatic, and are often only noticed by the occupant – and not the guests as one assumes. It was still important for me to cooperate with a manufacturer who can match harmonious decorative fabrics with the respective wall-covering, for my own collection. My licensed partner, Elbersdrucke, which belongs to the Rasch Group, specialises in finished decorating products. My close cooperation with Tapetenfabrik Gebr. Rasch, facilitates an exact focus on harmonising fabric and wallpaper. Even though I love lots of patterns and colours in my home, I always tell myself one thing when I’m renovating: decide on one star attraction only in the room! If the wall has a loud pattern, then the fabrics should be more sedate. If the curtains and cushions are the main characters, the walls should provide a quiet stage. Accessories may, however, be eye-catchers. At the moment, I’m especially fond of precious metals, which, with their shining surfaces, effortlessly integrate into almost any setting. And how is it looking in your home?

Peruvian Ceviche - just like at my favourite restaurant

Who’s for a little Florida sea air? Cook one of my favourite recipes with me. You’ll already be thinking of your next holiday while preparing it. The recipe is from one of my favourite restaurants in downtown Miami. Bon appetit!

You will need the following ingredients:

  • 1 kg fish fillet, (e.g. white fish of your choice; loup de mer, red snapper, halibut)
  • 1/2 kg shrimp
  • 15 limes
  • 6 chillies, red and green (depending on spiciness)
  • 5 sticks of celery
  • 2 large onions
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 stalks coriander
  • salt and pepper

Preparation time: approx. 1 hr. / chill time: approx. 6 hrs. / difficulty: normal

Lightly braise the shrimp in a little lime juice until they are pink. Set them aside to cool. Be sure that the fish is sushi quality. It is best to inform your fishseller. All types of white fish such as loup de mer, red snapper or halibut are suitable for this dish.

Cut the fish into bite-sized pieces and remove any bones. Add the pieces to the cooled shrimp in a large bowl. Juice the limes and drizzle the juice generously over the fish pieces and shrimp, covering them entirely. Cut the onions into strips and slice the celery sticks - not too thinly – and mix them with the fish. Keep back the young celery leaves from the middle of the stalks to garnish. Slice the red and green chillies thinly, having scraped the seeds out so that the dish is not too spicy. Add two pressed cloves of garlic (or to taste). Salt and pepper to taste.

Pluck the coriander leaves and chop them a little before adding. My tip: mix everything very carefully so that the fish pieces hold their shape. When testing, it tastes quite spicy due to the chillies but this wears off after a little while. Cover the bowl and place it in the refrigerator for about 6 hours. To decorate, pull a little celery leaf from the middle of the stalks through the large chilli rings and garnish the fish with it shortly before serving. Steamed sweet potatoes and corn on the cob are traditionally served with the ceviche.

b.b home passion – now also for your bathroom!

Redecorate your bathroom with zest for life with my new accessories! I love to spend a lot of time in the bathroom.

This is where my day begins and ends – and that is not the only reason why this room is one of the most important in my house. Here is where I awaken my, sometimes sleepy, morning spirit, refresh body and soul and return here in the evening to prepare for a restful sleep.

Bathrooms have long been freed of their cold, full-tiled image. Today, the bathroom receives us with cheerful, warm colours, natural materials, such as wood and stone, but also metal and fine ceramics. It is not for nothing that we are reminded of the term “wellness temple“, since we draw our strength, relaxation and beauty for the day from here. So, I looked for the perfect partner, in order to realize my ideas for beautiful bathroom living style and today, together with the company Kleine Wolke, I am delighted to show you how to turn a drab bathroom into an oasis of well-being in no time.

I am very proud of my beautiful bathroom accessory line, which fits perfectly into my current collection. Along with super soft bathrobes in cream tones and fine terry in spring colours, I am especially taken with the shiny gold and silver soap dispensers and accessories from the “Amira” series, which belongs to my “Scheherezade” world of living range. These fine gems appear hand-forged and are a noble eye-catcher in any bathroom.

So my interior design brand b.b home passion has grown by a further little step and I am looking forward to presenting you more from me, and my passion for beautiful living style for your home.

New in 2015

Bitter cold assailed me as soon as the airplane door opened and I breathed in the first breath of Frankfurt winter air. However, some appointments make me quickly put any longing for the ever-warm Miami to the back of my mind: the Heimtextil fair in Frankfurt am Main and the Domotex in Hanover.

I headed to the former with one surprise.

My surprise for 2015 is that b.b. home passion is now available for bathrooms. Last year I got together with Germany’s most famous producer of bathroom accessories, who was immediately taken with my Home Collection. So, this year great products from Kleine Wolke such as bath mats, soap dispensers, shower curtains, towels and many more will hit the stores with my designs. Each product is tailored to my current collection with its three worlds of style Aponi, Scheherezade and Moana.

The Domotex meant show time for my new rug! This little masterpiece in 3 sizes is equally suitable for indoors and outdoors – and it can be turned over! Its composition from special resilient carpet fibres makes it a real all-rounder. It can be folded and put in a bag and brought anywhere. Whether living room, garden or even beach, this carpet is just waiting to become part of your life.

Autumn Colours

Every season has its beautiful sides. Our tastes are highly individual and unique, just as different as spring, summer autumn and winter. Even more reason for us to be led by our hearts in terms of what we like and what may surround us.

Even though I am a complete sun fanatic, I also love the autumn. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I was born on a stormy November day. And when the hot days and balmy nights in Miami slowly pale and the Atlantic becomes rougher, I love to visit my family and beloved friends in Berlin, Duesseldorf or Munich. Whatever is missing in Miami, I get more of in my old home of Germany; typical autumn colours, dark reds, lively rust browns and vibrant yellows colour the beautiful autumn leaves conveying a very special mood. I also love to surround myself with these peaceful, grounded shades. Fluffy velour cushions in vibrant red accentuate, dark brown drapes, which can also be teamed excellently with shining white sheer curtains, offering privacy and sun-protection. So my living room remains light and relaxed, without appearing too dark. Take a look at my living style-line, “Aponi” where you will surely find a beautiful autumnal accompaniment for your home!

Joie de vivre can be furnished

Everyone is characterised by little habits, particular preferences and things they are especially passionate about. All of these are elements of our personality and also play a decisive role in the way we design our living spaces.

A beautiful home does not just happen, it evolves as we grow. And that is why we should choose the things that surround us every day consciously and carefully. My b.b. home passion brand's latest wallpaper collection aims for precisely that: to literally give room to life's diversity and beauty with enjoyment, imagination and finely honed style consciousness. Only rarely does one style of interior design suit life's diversity. It's OK to combine, mix and decorate to your heart's content and according to your own personal understanding of what makes a home a home. The three living themes in this collection create beautiful "oases of style". Each of them takes us away from the ordinary and provides the right space for that special relaxing break. My designs are inspired by my travels. Often, they are based only on a certain attitude to life that is reflected in a particular colour and pattern. Discover new worlds for a beautiful home.
